Adult Basic Education and General Educational Development
Taught Monday through Friday through a partnership with Literacy Partners, this program provides students with the skills needed to obtain a General Education Degree, a requirement needed to pursue higher education or obtain employment.
Computer Clubhouse
The HCCI Computer Clubhouse is a free after school program with an ongoing, open enrollment policy. It serves the area’s 10-18 year olds with creative, project-oriented learning in computer based, multi-media design led by staff and mentors from related fields of technology.

Construction Trades Academy
The Construction Trades Academy (CTA) is a comprehensive training program that provides Harlem residents (with a special emphasis on young adults ages 18 to 25) with skills in the building maintenance and construction industries, trains them in work place etiquette, and provides successful graduates with job placement opportunities.

Job Readiness and Placement
Located in HCCI’s Career and Technology Center (CTC), the Job Readiness and Placement program serves to develop, train and place the participants in jobs. The program teaches computer and office skills to low-income residents of Central Harlem and Upper Manhattan, assists with job placement and provides job retention services. The CTC has served more than 1,150 community residents assisting many to obtain full and part-time employment.
Building Works
Building Works is a partnership between the New York District Counsel of Carpenters’ Labor Technical College, HCCI and other CBOs to provide training to young minorities in environmental remediation and construction. Upon completion, students are able to conduct several types of environmental work, handle hazardous materials and remediation, abate asbestos, lead paint and monitor confined space entry and environmental sites.
Summer Youth Employment Program
Through the Department of Youth & Community Development’s Summer Youth Employment Program, HCCI hired three youths. These teens performed clerical and administrative tasks, and gained experience working in an office environment.
Welfare to Work Training and Placement
This program is a collaboration between the NYC Department of Human Resources and HCCI. These classes are intended to provide the participants with the skills needed to obtain gainful employment. These include job search and interviewing skills, job readiness training and linking participants to potential employers. The purpose of the Welfare-to-Work Program is to lead the participants to self-sufficiency without public assistance.
